A bit about offset printing

Offset printing starts by creating a printing plate, used to transfer the image onto paper. The surface of the plate is treated/dampened with water. Because water and oil don’t mix, when we apply oil-based ink, the inks sticks to the image. This image is transferred (offset) to a rubber blanket which repels the water and then transfers the image onto the paper.
